Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What can you expect when working with me?

A: Fun, fun, and more fun!

We’ll chat about what you, your family and life while walking to different spots to capture you in different lighting and environments. We’ll work together to incorporate your ideas. If you see a cool spot to shoot, we’ll stop and shoot there. It’s a relaxed environment where I’ll direct you, while also letting you do your thing!

Q: Where will we shoot?

A: I love to incorporate the many amazing San Diego landmarks and landscapes.  My passion is marrying nature and people in natural light.

Here are some of my favorite spots to shoot:

  • Balboa park
  • La Jolla Windansea Beach area
  • The streets of La Jolla/Murials
  • Scripps Pier
  • The streets of OB/Murials
  • Point Loma/Sunset Cliffs
  • Cardiff/Seaside Beach
  • San Elijo Lagoon
  • Little Italy/Downtown
  • Iron Mountain
  • Los Penasquitos Reserve/Ranch
  • Rancho Bernardo Community Park Loop/Trails
  • Felicita Park

Q: What do we wear?

A: So many fun options!

  • Jeans/cute tops/button up shirts/skirts/sweaters/cardigans
  • Neutral colors – loud prints are not recommended
  • Mini or maxi/flowy dresses
  • Accessories, hats, vests, belts, Cowboy boots
  • Babies look great in neutral dresses, overalls, suspenders, and rompers

Q: Do you provide props, clothing, or accessories?

A: Yes,  I do have a client closet if you need to access it. We can discuss your size, color choices, and the shoot location.  Location really does have a lot to do with what you choose to wear.  Long flowy dresses in muted tones looks fabulous at the beach and in other places as well, but jeans, plaid boots and sweaters look great in the trails and at parks.

Q: What time of day do we shoot?

A: Sunset!  I find that the lighting is the most beautiful during golden hour or within two hours of sunset.  All locations require a little different start time though based on where the sun is at certain times of the day.  And we can make exceptions if you need something at a different time, such as the morning, but most locations look the most beautiful within the golden hour.   And the beach is truly best within 30-45 minutes of sunset.

Q: What is the best time of year to take photos?

A: The time of year that we shoot is entirely up to you.  Do you want green lush grass and the possibilities of wild flowers?  If so, then the Spring is your time!  Or do you like the brown tones of burnt out trails? Then Fall is your jam!  Winter can be the most beautiful time to shoot at the beach as the skies are gorgeous and the tides are very low exposing rocks covered in green moss.

Q: When can I expect to receive my photos.

A:  2-3 weeks is the average turn around time.  But also depends on the time of year.  Fall is the busiest time of year for me as a photographer and the return times can be a little longer due to the number of sessions I’m shooting.  I always suggest booking your session sooner rather than later during this time of the year.  If you wait too long, getting those holiday cards out on time can become much more of a challenge.  Your images will be available in an online viewing gallery where you  can view, share, download and order professional prints and other products.  Even holiday cards and senior announcements can be ordered directly through this site.
