There’s just something about the San Diego winter beaches that I just can’t get enough of. The tides are extremely low, and the exposed tide rocks show off their beautiful green moss. The skies and sunsets are full of many colors, and the glassy, smooth sands become a mirror to the ski. It’s become one of my favorite times of year to shoot there.
It’s hard to believe that this gorgeous sunset session almost didn’t happen due to the extreme dense marine layer that rolled in just as we were headed to our destination at Cardiff -by-the Sea Beach.
What I’ve learned from my many years of shooting is that sometimes we might not get the exact conditions we hope for in a session, but sometimes we get so much more. And so that is why you must follow your intuition and just go for it. When all of the work of hair and makeup, wardrobe and availability aligns, you simply just go out and shoot. And this is what you get!
